Tapestry Room
Created by the same craftsmen who worked on the nearby Palace of Holyrood House in the 1680’s, Prestonfield’s baroque Tapestry Room with it’s bacchanalian plaster ceiling is probably Scotland’s most theatrical drawingroom and we hope that enjoying time here you will feel like Royalty! The Mortlake tapestries and some of the gilded furniture have been here for 300 hundred years, but the room is fun not stuffy so we’ll hope you will stay around for a while and enjoy the surroundings with sumptuous sofas, flickering candles, piles of books and a log fire roaring in the most extraordinary fireplace!
In spring and summer you’ll find that the seats on the Tapestry Room Terrace become some of the most sought after spots to enjoy lunch, afternoon tea or drinks. |
