An Intimate Wedding

Prestonfield has been encapsulated by romance since 1687.  It is the perfect setting for celebrations from popping the question to the wedding itself.

Intimate wedding celebrations of 12 to 50 guests can be accommodated in our stunning historic private dining rooms.

Stuart Room

If ever there were a room rich, ripe and dissolute then the Stuart room may be it, with its dramatic red, black and gilt décor and luxurious furnishings this is the most striking and dramatic of Prestonfield’s private dining rooms.

Famed for its views to Craigmillar Castle and "Little France", home to Mary, Queen of Scots, of which a portrait still hangs in this room.

Enjoy your pre drinks reception in the Leather Room which is decorated with seventeenth-century Spanish leather, recently restored to its original glory.

Seats up to 14 guests on one table.

Italian Room

Inspired by his travels in Italy with the painter, Allan Ramsay, Sir Alexander commissioned the Norrie family to paint Italian-style landscapes on the panelling of his dining room. Re-igniting Prestonfield's reputation for genial hospitality, he played generous host to leading thinkers, writers, and artists of the day including David Hume, Benjamin Franklin, Dr Samuel Johnson, and his biographer, Boswell, plus Ramsay himself - whose fine portraits of Sir Alexander and his wife remain at Prestonfield. The Italian Room is available for guests today and is probably Edinburgh's most sought-after private dining room.

Enjoy your pre-drinks reception in the Whisky Room which features unusual elk antler furniture, antique equestrian portraits as well as an extensive display of Scottish quality malts.

Seats up to 24 guests.

Garden Room

The Garden Room is Prestonfield's largest and most flexible private room.

Its discreet location, bright and charming ambiance with hand-painted Chinoiserie walls and Chinese pots, open onto an exclusive hidden terrace shaded by pots of olive trees and filled with planters of herbs, making it the perfect location for every special celebration.

Seating up to 50 guests on circular tables or up to 24 guests on one large table.
