Prestonfield has a collection of ravishing private dining rooms perfect for any occasion, from a delightful breakfast to an unforgettable evening, a celebratory lunch for fourteen or a formal dinner for fifty.
Dine in spectacular and historic surroundings which have entertained Presidents, Prime Ministers, Royalty and Celebrities' from around the world since 1687.
From the intimate Salon Privee just for two, our rich and dramatic Stuart Room for up to fourteen guests, to our stunning Italian Room for up to twenty-four guests or to our Chinoiseries Garden Room up to fifty guests, there are few events or celebrations that would not be enhanced by the enchanting setting of these historic and characterful rooms.
Described as Edinburgh’s most lavish dining rooms, all are perfect for birthday, anniversary or graduation celebrations, weddings, formal dinners or private meetings. For larger events of up to 500 guests, The Stables offers the perfect setting.

Garden Room
ELEGANT & BRIGHT WITH A PRIVATE TERRACE
Elegant, chic and bright with French doors onto its own private covered terrace, this Chinoiserie-styled room is Prestonfield’s largest private dining room and offers direct access to Prestonfield’s gardens and lawn. Seating up to 50 guests around circular tables, this opulent venue makes an impressive setting for a wedding or a private dinner.
Italian Room
MOST SOUGHT-AFTER PRIVATE DINING ROOM
Dramatically panelled with painted scenes as a souvenir of an eighteenth-century Grand Tour, the green and gold Italian Room is one of Prestonfield's most historic rooms. The most sought-after private room in the city, it offers the chance to dine in a room that has played host to Presidents, Prime Ministers, Royalty and stars of every age - from Boswell, Johnson and Benjamin Franklin to Oliver Reed, Lauren Bacall and Elton John.
Seats up to 24 guests.
Stuart Room
REGAL AND LUXURIOUS
If ever there were a room rich, ripe and dissolute then the Stuart room may be it, with its dramatic red, black and gold décor and luxurious furnishings, this is the most striking and dramatic of Prestonfield’s private rooms.
Seats up to 14 guests.
Salon Privee
JUST FOR TWO
For the ultimate experience in private dining, Prestonfield’s smallest private room is a luxurious retreat for two guests.

Private dining at Prestonfield
What are the benefits of private dining?
Opting for a private dining room allows for a much more intimate setting so your guests can truly enjoy the VIP treatment in an opulent backdrop that's created just for them.
From intimate dining for 2 to 50, our private dining rooms are perfect for all special occasions, whether it's a birthday, breakfast or a large corporate networking event. Prestonfield's grand and historic setting ensures a memorable experience that will last for years to come.
Guests joining us can also have pre-dinner drinks. Guests dining in our Stuart Room will have use of our Leather Room, those dining in our Italian Room will have use of our Whisky Room and guests dining in our Garden Room can head to the terrace leading out to the South lawn (weather permitting)

How many private dining rooms does Prestonfield have?
Prestonfield has four private dining rooms that seat between two and fifty guests respectively. Enjoy our Salon Privee just for two, our rich and dramatic Stuart Room for up to fourteen guests, our stunning Italian Room for up to twenty-four guests or to the Chinoiserie Garden room with its own private terrace for up to fifty guests.
Dress code
What is the dress code for private dining rooms at Prestonfield in Edinburgh?
Prestonfield does not have a dress code for our private dining rooms but we would advise smart/casual attire.
Parking options
What are the parking options for guests?
Prestonfield offers complimentary parking in our spectacular Edinburgh grounds. We do have an EV charging station.
Guests that have bookings at The Witchery can also park complimentary at Prestonfield for the length of their stay.
Overnight accommodation
Can I book rooms to stay over when I book private dining?
Prestonfield's private dining rooms can be occupied until midnight. Following this, overnight accommodation can be booked, subject to room availability.
