Built as the grand baroque home of Edinburgh's Lord Provost, Prestonfield is now Edinburgh's most luxurious five-star hotel with 23 stylishly opulent rooms and suites.
A Hotel of the Year, Prestonfield is Edinburgh’s highest rated hotel, holding the AA's highest grading, a rare 5 Red Stars, alongside VisitScotland's highest of 5 Gold Stars. Prestonfield regularly features in TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice Awards and holds a host of awards and accolades.
Prestonfield is privately owned by the Witchery by the Castle's creator, James Thomson. Described by Time Out as Edinburgh's star restaurateur. His vision was to create a compelling alternative to bland, unexceptional hotels so Prestonfield is a very personal creation; of historic architecture, art and antiques, and décor every bit as rich and colourful as the history of the house itself.
In addition to the dramatically romantic bedrooms and sumptuously luxurious suites, there is a destination restaurant – Rhubarb – and a collection of stunning private dining rooms, opulent salons and impressive public rooms.
Prestonfield has been at the heart of Scotland's artistic, social, business and political life for over four centuries - as a luxury hotel, it remains so today. A discreet and luxurious hotel since the 1950s, Prestonfield has always welcomed Presidents, Princes and stars of stage and screen. In addition to the hotel’s own five stars, stars of every age, from Grace de Monaco, Lauren Bacall and Jessie Norman to the Dali Lama and Oliver Reed, Elton John and Sean Connery have enjoyed the hotel’s unique luxury. Prestonfield’s star-studded reputation continues as it remains the Edinburgh base of many contemporary authors, artists, actors, designers and performers.
